Mayor's Youth Council

The Mayor’s Youth Council formed in April of 2006 as a result of the Hoopeston Youth Town Hall Project. The Mayor’s Youth Council was formed as a way to identify and meet the needs of the youth in Hoopeston. The Mayor’s Youth Council has created “Overtime”, a series of events offering a positive, substance-free, option for community youth.  These events are for Middle and High School students and provide a chance to get out and have fun! Events range from Wii Tournaments, Dodgeball Tournaments to Board Games and Hanging Out.  All events are free of charge to area students.
The Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program was piloted in Hoopeston as a result of the enthusiasm demonstrated by the youth. Sixteen high school students volunteer as mentors to the elementary students in Hoopeston.

If you would like to become a member of the Mayor's Youth Council please contact the Economic Development Department at (217) 283-7679.
