Oh the Sweetcorn. My mother was Annette Yonkelwitz and her brother Martin Young (Selma)was my uncle/aunt. All have passed away. I have many good childhood memories from the 1950's. There is something special about small town values. All the children live either in SF Bay Area or Arizona. Cheers.
I was in the class of 1969. My sister still lives in Hoopeston and we try to get up there as often as we can. It would be so great to have especially the downtown close to being back the way i remember it. My dad worked for many years at the American Can Company ...he was also in the Jaycees and helped with the festival.....i have so many memories of Hoopeston.....a great place to grow up in.
My grandfather was born in Hoopeston and grew up in Cheneyville. I'm planning to visit this fall and looking up some of the local history.
my grandpa and grandma use to run the chevy business in town we will be there Sunday. to celebrate my aunt barbars 100th birthday. she has lived here all her live love and miss her Dana french Rogers. I remember the couttry club the most
I was in the class of 1952. My parents owned the Sugar Bowl ice cream parlor when I was in h.s. I moved to Ca. in 1951,but still have friends and family there. My best memories are from Hoopeston, and McFerrin Park. I live in California, but my heart is still in Hoopeston.
"Once a Cornjerker, always a Cornjecker" says it all!!!
man brock ramos is really really fast. i wonder where he gets his speed? Rumor has it that this year he will run a 1:55 in the 800meter run and get a top 3 finish at state! He will be the best runner to ever come out of hoopeston!
I was born and raised in Hoopeston IL and still try to visit my parents and friends in my hometown at least twice a year. I've spent my happiest years in Hoopeston. Wanted to say Hello Hoopeston's Police Dept.
I purchased a fork lift and man lift from Ralph ??? He has all kinds of equipment for sale. Really nice people. Then we went to the china wok for a very great meal. I wish His resteraunt was in Taylorville and Hoopeston had a lot of feathers, Then we would all be tickled. I just love their food. I always look foreward to my trips to your friendly quaint village. It is really a neat town, May you all have a great new year. The Hughes clan.
I was raised in Hoopeston and still visit whenever I can...in recent years stopping off a night on the way back from the Indianapolis Motorcycle Grand Prix (August 29th this year). I now do TV commentary for the Motorcycle GP series on Spain's TVE and write for a Spanish magazine, but Hoopeston will always be my real home. For sure the town has suffered from the closing of the factories and it is sad to see so many empty storefronts on Main, but the way I feel when I am there I don“t feel anywhere else.
a home town hero is sandy goldstien , she runs a church thrift store in marco island fl the bargian basket ,and is a very helpful, sweet, true lady.im sure the wholesome upbringing that this town provided gave her the will to do for others! we found her hometown just looking up the great people we have met in south west florida. thanks sandy your friends in marco
Congratulations to Jean Minick and Shannon Ruh on getting the award from the National Assoc. on Building Livable Communities. I think Shannon was a breath of fresh air for Hoopeston and even though some things take time to get done in government sometimes, she had a hand in working towards it & was always courteous and helpful to me as just a citizen of the area.
I have fond memories of Hoopeston. I visited my grandparents Nettie and Theodore Rosborg twice a year. My Uncle Bob Rosborg taught me swimming when he was manager of McFerren Park.

Hello Hoopeston!
Greetings from Germany. Was in Hoopeston some years ago. Congratulations on a great job with this website. Would enjoy seeing more pictures of your beautiful city.
Kind regards, Thomas Klein
Thank you for your informative site, I am planing to visit Hoopeston on my visit to the USA next month. I find your website very useful in every way. Kind regards,Tom Lee.
My parents moved to Hoopeston several years ago and the whole town has always made me feel at home. We love fishing at McFerron and of course we are there every year for the Corn Festival. My one comment would be about the community pool. There are no lounge chairs to sit on. Also, the kids at the concession stand should work more and play less. If you could post the hours of the pool on your website and maybe when they close unexpectedly (which seems to happen to us a lot), that would be great.
This site covers a lot of information.
After a long anxious wait, the Hoopeston guestbook is finally a reality.

Hi Art Simpson--loved your post & agree with a lot of what you said. I want to tell you that Phil Lithgow (Lisa's husband) just sold the 1st Can-Am Spyder Roadster from our dealership today!! of course his dad, Dale helped. Ask Harold about the Spyder. He thinks it's neat.
Take care,
Penny (Webb) Lithgow--Phil's mom

I was born in Hoopeston and left when I was 8 but I still visit.
I really dont care for small towns but hoopeston is okay! There aint really nothing to do there. You should really add the menus on your resaurant/Bar section. That would be very helpful!! But im sure this is where you say nic ethings so i will stop.
