Hoopeston Paint Program

The City of Hoopeston realizes the value in encouraging residents to help keep Hoopeston an attractive place to live.  In an effort to promote beautification of residential neighborhoods, the City has established a Paint Program for residential property owners. 

 

This program offers reimbursement of paint costs to residents who wish to paint the exterior of their homes or accessory structures (sheds, storage units, or garages).  Reimbursement will be granted for exterior paint only. Paint Program participants must purchase paint in Hoopeston.  Participants will receive reimbursement of 50 percent of total paint costs.  However, the maximum reimbursement amount is $250. Paint is available in Hoopeston at Olympic Hardware located at 516 North Dixie Highway or at Pamida located at 1020 West Chestnut.  Residences with the greatest improvement needs will be considered first. 

 

Reimbursement will occur upon the completion of the project and submission of all receipts to the City of Hoopeston.  All Hoopeston homeowners and renters (with landlords’ consent) are eligible to apply for assistance. The City has allocated $2,000 to be used this fiscal year and must approve any additional allocations in the future. The City has a right to cancel the program at any time, prior to grant approval and without notice, if sufficient funds are determined unavailable.  All funded projects for this fiscal year must be completed by October 1st 2008 to receive reimbursement.

 How do I qualify?

The property owner must be at least 18 years of age.

The structure must be a residential structure located within the municipal boundaries of the City of Hoopeston.  The structure must be in need of exterior improvements. 

 May I choose the paint color?

Property owners wishing to participate in the program will be asked to submit paint samples to be reviewed and approved by City Staff.

 How do I apply?

Interested individuals should contact the City to receive and complete an application form. City Staff will review the application for completion and to ensure program compliance. Submitted applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis and continue until all funding has been used. Applicants will be notified of approval or denial within 3 weeks of receipt of completed application.  After the funding has been used, a waiting list will be established for the next funding cycle.  Participants must provide all receipts and the project must be completed before any costs are reimbursed.
