I: CALL TO ORDER
Meeting was called to order and pledge to the flag was recited.
II: ROLL CALL
Roll call
was taken. The seven council members
present were alderpersons Ankenbrand,
III: MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING
Minutes of the last meeting were read. Alderman Ankenbrand moved to accept with a second from Alderman Hamilton. Minutes were approved as read 7-0.
IV: COMMITTEE REPORTS
Mayor Dewitt asked for a motion to dispense with committee reports except for the finance committee. Alderman Lotz made the motion which was seconded by Alderman Hamilton. Motion approved 7-0.
Alderman Goodwine presented the budget for Fiscal Year 2008/2009 and moved to accept the budget. Alderman Hamilton seconded the motion. The budget was approved by a 6-1 roll call vote. Alderman Yonkers was the no vote.
Alderman
Goodwine moved to adopt the salary range ordinance giving the city employees
other than police officers a 3.5% increase.
Alderman Hamilton seconded the motion.

I: CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Dewitt called the meeting to order following the Pledge of Allegiance...
Hoopeston City Council meeting of July 1, 2008 was called to order by Mayor Bill DeWitt at 7:00 P.M., with the leading of the Pledge of Allegiance.
Roll call was taken by acting Clerk Loni Gress. In attendance were Aldermen Davis, Stipp, Goodwine, and Hamilton. Absent were Alderman Ankenbrand, Crusinberry, and Lotz. Also absent was City Attorney Paul Manion.
Minutes of the previous meeting of June 17, 2008 were read. Motion by Alderman Hamilton to accept the minutes as read. Second by Alderman Goodwine. Vote taken. Motion carried 4-0.
There were no Public Comments at this time.
Motion by Alderman Hamilton to pay the bills presented. Second by Alderman Goodwine. Vote taken, motion carried 4-0.
GOODWINE: Alderman Goodwine reported that the new street sweeper had arrived. Street Superintendent Wade Gocking is planning on putting a plaque in honour of Jerry Yonkers on the back. Alderman Goodwine expressed a big thanks to Shannon Ruh for her dedication and hard work for the City. The Appropriations Ordinance will be put on the July 15 agenda for passage. It will be available to the public on July 7 at the water dept administration window for viewing. A public hearing is scheduled for 6:45 P.M. on July 15 for the Appropriations. Bids were opened for the upcoming street projects. Low bidder was Ribbe Trucking with a bid of $181940.26. Motion by alderman Goodwine to accept the bid. Second by Alderman Hamilton. Vote taken, motion carried 4-0. Alderman Goodwine had nothing to report under finance.
HAMILTON: Nothing to report
DAVIS: Alderman Davis reported that he is working on a ten year comprehensive plan for the Cemetery. This will enable them to receive grants for upcoming projects.
STIPP: Alderman Stipp announced that the flower boxes are planted. She also attended the Main Street training, and found it to be very interesting. She noted that there were 27 participants form Hoopeston.
There were no petitions or communications to the council.
No need for executive session
No new business
A representative of Rankin asked when they would be acting on having Rankin and Rossville participate in the Hoopeston Municipal Court. They were assured it would be on the July 15 Agenda, and would be acted on at that time.
Motion by Alderman Stipp to adjourn at 7:20 P.M. Second by Alderman Davis. Vote taken motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7:20 P.M.
