Mayor's Youth Council

The Mayor’s Youth Council formed in April of 2006 as a result of the Hoopeston Youth Town Hall Project. The Mayor’s Youth Council was formed as a way to identify and meet the needs of the youth in Hoopeston. The Mayor’s Youth Council has created “Overtime”, a community youth center which is open twice a month for middle and high school students to gather to play games and have fun!

The Big Brothers Big Sisters mentoring program was piloted in Hoopeston as a result of the enthusiasm demonstrated by the youth. Sixteen high school students volunteer as mentors to the elementary students in Hoopeston.
