VISTA
What is AmeriCorps VISTA?
Since 1965, over 170,000 Americans have performed
national service as VISTA Volunteers. AmeriCorps*VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) provides
full-time members to nonprofit, faith-based and other community
organizations, and public agencies to create and expand programs that
bring low-income individuals and communities out of poverty.
What do VISTA members do?
AmeriCorps*VISTA members leverage human, financial, and material
resources to increase the capacity of thousands of low-income areas
across the country to address challenges and improve their lives and
communities. VISTA volunteers work to identify long-term solutions to the problems caused by urban and rural poverty.
They leave behind lasting solutions to some of our country's toughest problems.
What are the benefits of AmeriCorps VISTA for Hoopeston?
Vista volunteers help to build the capacity of existing non-profit organizations. Through building community capacity VISTA works to increase the sustainability of local community development efforts.
